Leopold Scholz (1877–1946) Austrian born American sculptor best known for his woks in the National Statuary Hall Collection housed in the US Capitol in Washington D.C.〔Architect of the Capitol, ‘’Compilation of Works of Art and Other Objects in the United States Capitol’’, United States Printing Office, Washington 1965 p. 244, 259〕 In 1921 Scholz married sculptor Belle Kinney Scholz and much of his best known work was executed with her. IN 1938 Scholz created a statue under the auspices of the WPA, ''Postman'', for the Chattanooga Post Office, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
